The meaning of the lyrics of the song "I Wanna Go" by the artist "Tranzas"

Tranzas's song "I Wanna Go" is a satirical look at cultural assimilation and the "American dream", especially prevalent among young people in Latin American countries. The lyrical hero, addressing the "Mr. Consul" (presumably at the US embassy), desperately tries to obtain a visa to the United States.

His arguments are full of clichés and stereotypes about American culture gleaned from the mass media: hamburgers, rock and roll, fashion, Madonna, Stallone, Hollywood movies and TV series, beautiful women. He admits that he does not know his native country ("I don't know what I'm doing here") and lives "like in TV series".

The repeating refrain "I wanna go to the USA, where everything is always alright" emphasizes the naivety and distorted view of the hero about reality. He believes that America is a paradise on earth where all his problems will be solved.

However, there is an unexpected twist at the end of the song. Having visited the United States, the hero discovers that everything is not as rosy as it seemed. He does not find "women from TV" and realizes that "everything is not right". Moreover, he realizes that he is happy to live in his homeland.

Despite this, he still wants to return to the United States, repeating the obsessive refrain "I wanna go to the USA". This ending can be interpreted in different ways: as a manifestation of stubbornness and inability to give up on a dream, as a habit of the "American rollercoaster" of consumption, or as a bitter irony showing the power of cultural propaganda, which continues to attract despite disappointment.

Sr Consul

No comprende

Yo no debo estar aca yo debo estar alla

[Chorus 1:]

Yo me ofendo!

[Chorus 2:]

I wanna go to the USA

Donde todo siempre it's ok

I wanna go

I wanna go to the USA

Sr Consul

No comprende

[7x:]

I wanna go to the USA

To the USA

I wanna go I wanna go I wanna go

[6x:]

I wanna go to the USA
