The lyrics of the song "Lampenfieber" ("Stage fright") by the German band Unheilig tell a story about passionate but destructive and cyclical love, compared to drug addiction. The lyrical hero describes his feelings through stages, similar to the effects of taking a drug.

The first four stages describe the euphoria of falling in love: a surge of energy, fantasies, desire, the first kiss.

From the fifth to the eighth stage, addiction manifests itself: the hero searches for the object of his passion, curses, finds, and finally "tastes the skin", symbolizing physical intimacy.
