The meaning of the lyrics of the song "Apartment" (Kvartira) the performer of the song "The King and the Jester"

I got a new apartment

With a tiny bath, with a tiny toilet,

A wonder phone and all kinds of comfort,

And a microdistrict where boorishness thrives.

Chorus:

Hey-hey, what luck

Hey-hey, an apartment for a moron.

I picked up a fashionable chick,

Her donkey-like gaze conquered me.

I invited the chick to my new apartment,

Now the two of us will go crazy from fat.

Chorus:

Hey-hey, what luck

Hey-hey, a chick for a cretin.

My friends found out about this housewarming party,

And the black fun began:

Broken glass, vomit-covered walls,

Searches for water, attempts to open veins...

Chorus:

Hey-hey, what luck

Hey-hey, a chick for a moron.

The song "Kvartira" (Apartment) by the band "Korol i Shut" (The King and the Jester) is filled with sarcasm and irony, mocking stereotypes of a "new life" and "beautiful love."

The lyrical hero, on the one hand, rejoices in the apartment he received, albeit small and in a not-so-prosperous area ("a microdistrict where boorishness flourishes"). He emphasizes the presence of "amenities" - as if trying to convince himself and the listener that this is a real success.

On the other hand, bitter self-irony already shows through in the chorus: "Hey-hey, lucky me, hey-hey, an apartment for a fool." The hero seems to not believe in his own happiness and anticipates that everything will turn out differently than he imagined.

The appearance of a "fashionable chick" with a "donkey" look is another instance of sarcasm. Beauty and feelings are not important here, what matters is the possession of a "fashionable" thing, even with a hint of stupidity. Together they are going to "go wild from fat" – an image emphasizing the emptiness and superficiality of their relationship.

The housewarming party, turning into chaos and destruction, becomes the culmination. The "black fun" of friends, broken glass, and scribbled walls are all metaphors for the collapse of illusions about a "new life."

The final chorus, where the "chick" is called a "fool," reinforces the idea that the characters got what they deserved. Their "happiness" is illusory and built on false values, and therefore doomed to failure.
